Damascus, (SANA) – Syria's Grand Mufti Ahmad Badr Eddin Hassoun affirmed on Saturday that Islam calls for fraternity and tolerance among peoples, spreading justice and peace, and for dedication of science and work. In a statement given to SANA before leaving to Germany, Hassoun pointed out to the importance of laying the groundwork for a cultural discourse that brings cultures and civilizations together and conveys the true image of Islam to the world through rational dialogue that encourages communication among creeds and cultures. Hassoun will lecture during his visit to Germany at the Federal Diet (the Bundstag) on forgiveness and justice of Islam and its calls for respecting the dignity and existence of human beings. He will touch upon importance of developing relations and cooperation among peoples and civilizations. Hassoun will also participate in the opening of a photography exposition depicting Christmas celebrations in Damascus.
